David Beckham Exploring Amazon For BBC Documentary
Former footballer heads to Brazilian rainforest with pals for BBC One documentary...
The 38-year-old former footballer - who recently announced his part-ownership of a new US Major League Soccer franchise - will appear along with two friends in the 90-minute doc for BBC One.
And while the hugely rich star might be used to a life of luxury in his normal life, he was forced to cook, camp and fish as part of the adventure - which he undertook along with pals Dave Gardner and Derek White.
BBC Worldwide managing director Helen Jackson said of the project: "This is an unforgettable documentary set in the heart of the dense Amazon rainforest following David Beckham.
"Through his eyes, audiences will experience life in the jungle, something so distant from David's life on and off the pitch and in the glare of the world's media."
This year's Fifa World Cup is being held in Brazil - and the BBC documentary is expected to show different aspects of the huge South American nation.
BBC One controller Charlotte Moore said: "In this special documentary for BBC One, David Beckham embarks on a top secret expedition to the Amazon that will see him encounter the other side of Brazil and journey through the tropical rainforest, a TV first for the global icon."
Busy Becks was talking last week about his appearance in an Only Fools And Horses special for Sport Relief.
