David Beckham has become the first solo male to appear on the cover of Elle UK magazine's July issue, posing topless for the publication.
Becks has graced the cover to celebrate the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games, which are due to begin on 27th July.

The 37-year old hunk loses his shirt for the snaps, as he emerges from a pool with his jeans soaked through.

Despite shedding his clothes for the shoot, David went on to tell the mag that he gets a bit bashful at times, stating: "How would I sum myself up? I don’t know, I prefer other people to do that. Erm… a little bit shy."
Speaking of the decision to feature the footballer, Elle editor-in-chief Lorraine Candy stated: "David Beckham is a national hero. He is an icon and Elle is known for featuring icons on its cover.
"This is a first for us on the newsstand and I believe he is loved by men and women alike. Anyway, who doesn't want to see a picture of one of the world's most handsome men on the front cover of a magazine? It will be a collector's issue."
The July issue of Elle UK hits newsstands this Wednesday, 30th May.
