Just when we thought David Beckham couldn’t get any more dreamy, the former footballer has just announced 7 - a new fund with UNICEF to help children in danger across the globe.
To mark Becks’ tenth year as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, the star confirmed the news during a press conference in London this morning (February 9) and MTV UK were there to get all the gossip.
The campaign, which has been named after David’s trademark shirt number, will tackle seven urgent priorities around the world, including El Salvador and Papua New Guinea.
The 39-year old was keen to explain to the press that his fame has “opened many doors” for him, revealing that being David Beckham gives him access to some of the most influential people in the world.
He explained: “My fame helps in many different ways… It’s important because we have a voice that people really do listen to and respect.
“I can go into certain countries and ask to meet a Prime Minister, whether they want to meet me or not, but their children might want to meet me and that opens doors.”
Becks went on to reveal that despite being one of the most famous people in the world, that the Amazon rainforest is the only place in the world where he hasn’t been recognised.
The father-of-four said: “That was the only part of the world where I’ve actually been and not been recognised - but the tribe that we actually visited didn’t even know what football was.”
David also revealed that he hopes his children and wife Victoria Beckham will help the cause, stating: “The children will be getting involved as I’m going to make them, but they’re excited about that… they know exactly what needs to be done.
“Victoria is obviously working with the UN, which is very important as Victoria has got a voice which people also listen to and respect - she’s doing some great work.”
He added: "But going forward, my children will be involved in this. You know, they are only small but there will be certain trips that hopefully they will be able to make with me.
“Without a doubt, I want my children and family to be involved, I want my friends to be involved, we want everyone to be involved because it’s important.”
