David Beckham 'To Be Given Knighthood'

Newly retired soccer star linked to New Year Honours list...

David Beckham is reportedly in line to receive a knighthood in the forthcoming New Year Honours list.
The Sun newspaper claims that the soccer legend will be dubbed "Sir Becks" by Prince William next year, with final approval due later this month.
It is reported that HMRC are now checking out Becks' finances as a formality, but no hitches are foreseen. The honour would mean that Victoria Beckham would become "Lady Victoria".
As well as a lengthy and glittering football career, 38-year-old Becks was deeply involved in landing the 2012 Olympics for London and is known to be generous with his time for charities and young fans.
A source said: "HM Revenue and Customs look at the higher honours — specifically at high earners like sports people — to see if there is anything they want to double check."
Becks already has an OBE.

He will be featured in [uuid=3a4a3e23-27cc-4dd6-be2d-835c8c88effb]a new documentary movie[/uuid] about Manchester United's 1990s glory days.
