Boxer David Haye talks to us
He tells all ahead of his big fight this Friday...
WBC cruiserweight mandatory challenger David Haye ventures into the heavyweight division on April 27 when he meets Poland's WBC no.12 ranked Tomasz Bonin in a 12-round affair.
The heavyweight bout takes place at London's Wembley Arena this Friday, so our man Rickie caught up with him.
Rickie: What happened in your last fight with Giacobbe Fragomeni? (Haye flawed him in the ninth round.)
DH: It was crazy, I have never been cut before in my life. Blood was going in my eye. It was like a Rocky movie. It was weird, but hopefully this time around I will avoid being cut!
Rickie: What if he (Tomasz Bonin) catches you this time?
DH: My defence has got to be a lot better. I gotta take him out before he takes me out.
Rickie: What music will you be entering the ring with?
DH: Westwood is actually knocking something together. I dunno what the tune is until I start walking into the ring. Westwood sent me a text earlier saying he sorted me out.
Rickie: What music are you into?
DH: Growing up - Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, real music. Nowadays they just sample the old stuff. I like the originals. Im always locked into MTV Base on my plasma.
Rickie: Is it true that you have an interest in the women who carry the boards?
DH: I 100% do. This time around I pick my girls. I get 100 girls asking but I picked three. So tune in- I picked out their outfits as well.
Rickie: There has been a few rumours with yourself and Kylie Minogue. Any truth in that?
DH: Its all rumour, there isnt any facts. I get that a lot. I just brush it under the carpet and move on.
Rickie: Do you see yourself as a role model?
DH: Its only just recently I realised, I am a role model. I look at my profile and realise it may affect what kids do. I just say to kids out there focus on whatever they wanna do. I got a lot of friends in prison- I just stuck to the boxing, now its reaping the rewards.
