Batman Villain Deathstroke Is Getting A Solo Movie
DC is moving forward with a solo Deathstroke movie starring Joe Manganiello.
Exciting news for DC fans: reports claiming that the studio is planning a solo outing for popular antihero, Deathstroke. It was confirmed last year that ex-True Blood star Joe Mangianello would be playing the character in the upcoming Batman movie, but now it seems that he’ll be getting the chance to headline his own gig.
Just what that means for The Batman remains to be seen. Ben Affleck had initially posted a first look image of the character last September, back when he was directing the project, but since then, Matt Reeves has come on board, with the script said to have been totally rewritten.
Obviously, Deathstroke could still be appearing in both, with a part in The Batman potentially teasing his own solo story. In any case, it looks clear that DC is committed to mining the possibilities surrounding its villains and anti-heroes, with the Deathstroke movie joining the Joker and Harley spin-off, the Suicide Squad sequel and Gotham City Sirens on its upcoming slate.
Those looking forward to more straightforwardly heroic fare will have to make do with Justice League, which hits UK screens on 17 November 2017.
