Demi Lovato Hits Back At Katy Perry & Jessie J Comparisons Over Her Epic New Single

They’re really not THAT similar.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few days, you’ll know that Demi Lovato has finally released her new single ‘Cool For The Summer’, and it’s an absolute TUNE.

But while most people (us) have been playing the track on repeat for the last 24 hours, others have been busy comparing the song to the likes of Katy Perry and Jessie J – which Demi is NOT happy about.

Demi’s mega fans managed to get #BuyCoolForTheSummerOniTunes trending worldwide for most of the day on Wednesday (July 1), and even though the general consensus is that this is Demi’s best song yet, some people just had to come along and ruin the fun.

Following some tweets comparing ‘Cool For The Summer’ with Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed A Girl’ and Jessie J’s ‘Domino’, Entertainment Tonight posted a story about it, causing Demi to hit back.

Responding to their tweet, Demi called them out, saying: “Sounds nothing like it and with all the advances we've made in the LGBT community... I think more than one female artist can kiss a girl and like it”.

Plus, she added a sassy wink emoji. OH DEMZ.

In her defense, Demi’s latest single was produced by producer of the moment Max Martin, who also worked on ‘I Kissed A Girl’.

But still, who even cares? ‘Cool For The Summer’ is clearly destined for chart greatness, and we’re pretty sure it’s going to be THE song of the summer.

Right, we're off to listen to it for the 400th time today.
