Demi Lovato Posts Powerful Instagram About Recovering From Her Eating Disorder
The singer is aiming to "embrace freedom from self-criticism" in 2018.
Demi Lovato has uploaded a powerful Instagram post about recovering from her eating disorder.
The 25-year-old has discussed how she’s decided to let go of her battle with “perfectionism” once and for all to finally embrace the way her body looks.
Let's get checking out an update from MTV News...
Alongside an image of herself in a bikini, Demi wrote: “So, I’m insecure about my legs in this picture but I’m posting it because I look so happy and this year I’ve decided I’m letting go of my perfectionism and embracing freedom from self criticism.
Pointing out that the journey to recovery isn't a smooth path, she said: “Learning to love my body the way it is is challenging but life changing. Giving up my eating disorder has been the most challenging journey of my life but I work every day towards solid recovery even if I mess up sometimes.

And finishing off her message with some words of inspiration for anyone going through something similiar, she added: “Today I’m feeling strong. You all can do it too. It IS possible. Thank you God for this new chapter in my life. #EDrecovery #happyAF.”
This isn't the first time Demi has opened up about her eating disorder. Her 2017 YouTube documentary Simply Complicated delved into her relationship with food, with Demi admitting that it still remains "the biggest challenge" in her life.
"I don’t want to give it the power that it controls my every thought but it’s something that I’m constantly thinking about,” Lovato added. “Body image, what I wish I could be eating, what I wish I could be eating next, what I wish I didn’t eat, you know it’s just constant.
She added: "I get envious towards people who don’t struggle with an eating disorder because I think my life would be so much easier.”
Props to Demi for opening up about the realities of recovering from an eating disorder.
