Demi Lovato Reveals Her Parents Staged An Intervention
Sober star is speaking out about her road to recovery...
Demi Lovato has previously spoken out about her battle with drink and drugs and now she reveals what set her on the road to recovery.
“My mom specifically said, ‘You know, we’re going to move back to Texas and you’re not going to be able to be around you’re little sister,’” Demi explained. Demi’s 11 year-old half sister is Madison De La Garza, better known as Eva Longoria’s daughter in Desperate Housewives.
Demi’s mother Dianna, who sat in on the interview with Access Hollywood, added: “I couldn’t allow her, at that point, to be around her little sister because of the things that we found out, that really were going on.”
Earlier this week Demi revealed how, aged 19, she was drinking bottles of vodka in the morning and sneaking cocaine onto airplanes because she couldn’t go more than 30 minutes without the drug.
“The last time that I had an intervention,” recalled Demi, “it was my management, my entire team, manager, lawyers, everyone and my parents.”
Reflecting on her lowest point, the Heart Attack singer said: “At 19 years old I had a moment where I was like, oh my God, that’s alcoholic behavior. That’s no longer ‘I’m young and I’m rebellious and I’m out having fun’, it was like, wow I’m one of those people, at 19. I’ve gotta get my s*** together.”
But Demi, now 21, has successfully sought treatment in rehab and emerged wiser and more in tune with who she is. “There’s too many things to name that I learned about myself,” she said.
