Nick Jonas Reveals Demi Lovato Told Him To Break Up With Olivia Culpo As They Cover Billboard Together
Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas talk life and love as they cover Billboard, including that time Demi Lovato hit a backup dancer and when she advised Nick to split with former girlfriend Olivia Culpo. Read the full story at MTV.co.uk.
Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas earnt their best friend status almost 10 years ago during the days of Camp Rock, and their most recent cover shoot and joint interview with Billboard reveals just how much they've been through together.
The BFFs are currently co-headlining their 44 city arena tour, Future Now, where they put on a show both as solo artists and even duet and back each other up.
The pair are both now single after Demi split with boyfriend of six years Wilmer Valderrama in June, while Nick broke it off with former girlfriend Olivia Culpo last year. But in a twist you probably weren't expecting, Demi now reveals that she actually urged Nick to dump Olivia - and he actually listened.
He explains: "She's the third person I call - my dad, Joe, then Demi. She was like, 'Just go, create and be free'. She also said some other things..."
"He's a guy in his 20s and he's famous and he likes to have a lot of fun," Demi adds. "Listen, even when he was in a relationship, I was like, 'Get out of that. You could f*** anybody that you want right now, so have fun and do that.'"
Apparently Demi also remembers telling Nick, "I didn't like her anyway!".
Demz has also been a tad outspoken on social media lately (see her recent beef about Mariah Carey) and quite frankly, she shows no signs of stopping that any time soon.
"I'm sure [Mariah is] sitting on diamond records not giving a f*** what I have to say," Demi says. "I don't give a f*** what I have to say. That's why I just say it."
These besties have also been through some dark times together and also spoke about an incident back in 2010 where Demi hit one of the backup dancers on the Jonas Brothers tour, then checked into rehab for drug addiction, depression, self-harm and an eating disorder.
Nick revealed: "It was bad. On top of losing a friend, we have seven dates left, it's a big production, people are expecting to see Demi and that's not going to happen.
"I was angry, because a week before I pleaded with her to confide in me. We talked on the plane for two hours."
Demi revealed that she had to distance herself from Nick after that, saying: "After treatment, I had to have some time sober before I wasn't embarrassed to talk to him. Nick says I sent text messages, but I don't remember s**t."
It wasn't until 2012 that they saw each other again one night before her concert and she "got one of my best friends back".
OH YOU GUYS. So cute it hurts our insides a bit.
