Demi Lovato To Talk About Bipolar Disorder

Star taking part in awareness-raising tour for metal health issues...

Demi Lovato is set to share her experience of bipolar disorder as part of a mental health awareness-raising project.

The pop star and former judge on The X Factor USA has announced that she will be taking part in the Mental Health Listening and Engagement Tour.

Demi, now aged 21, first revealed she had the illness back in 2012.

She says in a YouTube clip: "I'm Demi Lovato. I'm a recording artist, author, songwriter and actress. I'm also living with bipolar disorder," she said in an announcement video.

"I've seen some dark times, especially with the depressive phase of the illness.

"Bipolar depression really got my life off track, but today I'm proud to say I am living proof that someone can live, love, and be well with bipolar disorder when they get the education, support and treatment they need."

And she explained why she was keen to take part in the tour.

"I want to shine a light on the people out there who, like me, are learning to live well with mental illness by getting the right diagnosis and finding the right treatment plan.

"I want to be the most informed and powerful advocate I can be and to help people to find the courage to seek help."
