Deus Ex: Human Defiance Tipped As Movie Title
Cyberpunk game franchise set for big screen adaptation...
Deus Ex: Human Defiance has been tipped as the title of an upcoming movie version of the cyberpunk game.
The title was recently trademarked by games studio Square Enix, prompting speculation that the franchise would get a new release.
But according to Superannuation, the name has been registered as a web domain by CBS Films, suggesting it will be the title of the big screen adaptation instead.
Thought to be based on the hit game Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which sold two million units in just two weeks upon its release in 2011, rumour has it that Scott Derrickson will be at the helm for the movie.
Screenwriter C Robert Cargill recently told Crave Online that the Deus Ex film would give fans of the franchise the chance to see things "that the game didn't allow them to see".
And he promised that the big screen adaptation would not be a "rehashing" of the original game, and said he believed that there could be a "new wave" of cyberpunk films on the way.
The movie is reportedly scheduled for a 2014 release.
