Benicassim 2013: Dizzee Rascal
REVIEW: Bassline Junkie rapper brings his big, dirty, stinking bass to Beni...

After a summer of supporting rock heavyweights Muse and The Stone Roses, this was Dizzee's chance to show he's more than just a wicked warm-up act.
Feeling/Look: When the main man was introduced, a stampede of festival-goers rushed to the Maravillas for an hour of mayhem.
It's a simple setup. Dizzee has DJ MK scratching and dropping his beats, Big Man Scope hyping the crowd and Daniel Pearce (formerly a member of flop boyband One True Voice) belting out the high notes.
Tunes: With Dizzee's forthcoming studio album The Fifth out in September, he showcased loads of new songs including Arse Like That (who he dedicated to "all the ladies with a fat arse") and his Will.i.am collaboration Something Really Bad about a one night stand.
But mixed with the rapper's fresh material were his fiercer early tracks Jus' a Rascal and Fix Up, Look Sharp. His recent single Bassline Junkie has really become an anthem, while Holiday couldn't be more apt for the Brits abroad atmosphere.
Banter: It's nothing new, but how Dizzee splits the crowd for a noise battle is brilliant. "F**k that side!" he shouts at Big Man Scope's half as the mad energy goes next level.
With his set overrunning (only himself to blame for snapping pics for Instagram on three separate occasions), he admits it will cost him a lot of money but to our amusement he doesn't seem to care. "You owe me!" he jokes before unleashing Bonkers.
Dizzee went down to stand on the front barrier, but security grabbed the top of his denim shorts so hard you could see his bum crack!
And midway through his final song, he ordered DJ MK to stop the track because he spotted "birds" on the floor getting crushed. He was rightly applauded and gave us one more chorus of Bonkers before jumping in for a tee-ripping crowd surf and leaving the stage topless.
Sweat Factor: With fans bouncing from first track to last, everyone was dripping.
Summary: An undeniable crowd pleaser, Dizzee Rascal's set could well be the rowdiest of the whole festival. Benicassim loves him and so do we.
