MTV News | Boys Of 2009

JLS, Robert Pattinson, Dizzee and Jay-Z had a massive twelve months...

2009 has been quite a year for the boys; with the return of some familiar faces of music past such as Robbie Williams, Jay-Z and of course Mr. Controversial himself, Eminem bouncing back to show us what we have been missing.

The new boys on the block also had a great year with X Factor runner-ups JLS, Chipmunk and of course the biggest selling UK male of the year Tinchy Stryder making their mark on the charts.
Not only did Dizzee Rascal go Bonkers but he also scored two massive UK number 1 singles, hooking up with DJ extraordinaires Calvin Harris and Armand Van Helden to bring some of 2009’s most memorable club tracks.

Whilst on the subject of superstar DJs, David Guetta also had an amazing year hitting the top spot with Kelly Rowland and Akon. If this wasn’t enough, the French Grammy-nominated star also scored a massive hit single with the Black Eyed Peas, producing their monster anthem I Gotta Feeling.
Mr Hudson lost his library and picked up a certain Kanye West, Taio Cruz told us he was going to break our hearts and Jay-Z made his comeback and joined forces with Rihanna and Kanye to Run This Town before releasing the massive single Empire State Of Mind.
Aside from A-List old timers, JLS came back from X Factor defeat to win two MOBO awards, have two number 1 hit singles and made most of the female population fall in love with them.
Another star who had girls literally falling at his feet this year was Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson. From the speculation of romance with co-star Kristen Stewart to having his six-pack painted on for New Moon, R-Pattz became 2009’s biggest heartthrob.
