Betting On Peter Capaldi For Doctor Who Role
Bookies are reported to have shortened their odds on Doctor Who following a rash of bets on the star of The Thick Of It.
Capaldi, who played sweary spin doctor Malcolm Tucker in the political sitcom, is claimed to have received a flurry of bets backing him to take over from Matt Smith after this year's Christmas special.
Show boss Steven Moffat recently told Digital Spy that a more mature Doctor was not impossible.
"We've never not considered an older Doctor," he said. "It is completely on all the lists we make - there are absolutely older Doctors."
The 55-year-old Scotsman is known to be a big fan of the BBC sci-fi show and has previously appeared as a character called Caecilius in a story titled The Fires of Pompeii.
