Doctor Who Missing Episodes - Details Revealed

One multi-part adventure now complete after tapes discovered in Africa...

More details have been released by the BBC about the rediscovered episodes of sci-fi drama Doctor Who.
The corporation has revealed that nine "lost" episodes were included among [uuid=cc3f4c03-e579-4bb5-b6a0-ce0dee65bee6]the 11 episodes that were found[/uuid] in a Nigerian TV station's store room.
These include the five missing episodes of six-part 1967 adventure The Enemy Of The World - starring Patrick Troughton.

And four of the missing five episodes of 1968's The Web Of Fear have been rediscovered, meaning that only episode three is now absent from the BBC archive.
All of the recovered episodes have been painstakingly remastered by the corporation and are available to purchase on iTunes now.

Many early adventures featuring Troughton and the first doctor William Hartnell were lost when transmission tapes were wiped by the BBC.
The missing episodes were tracked down by Television International Enterprises Archive director Phillip Morris, who followed the records of tapes being sent abroad to foreign TV companies.
He said: "The tapes had been left gathering dust in a store room at a television relay station in Nigeria.
"I remember wiping the dust off the masking tape on the canisters and my heart missed a beat as I saw the words Doctor Who. When I read the story code I realised I'd found something pretty special."
