Pete Capaldi Stays Coy On Doctor Who Accent

Peter Capaldihas been playing his cards close to his chest on the subject of the accent he will use for his portrayal of Doctor Who.

The star of The Thick Of It will be seen taking over the controls of the Tardis from Matt Smith in tomorrow's Christmas special, but was coy on whether he'll employ his own Glasgow accent when quizzed by The Mirror.

"We'll see if I use my Scottish accent. Doctor Who goes to lots of different places, sometimes he has to be in disguise.

"It could be any accent," he teased.

The long-term Doctor Who fan also promised fans that they won't be disappointed with the direction the BBC sci-fi drama is set to take.

"The script we have is great. Steve (Moffat) has produced something exciting that propels the series in a new direction but maintains the fun of the past."
