Dracula Untold will be the beginning of Universal's planned shared monster universe, it has been revealed.

The Luke Evans movie, which hits cinemas today, is expected to be followed by films featuring classic characters such as The Mummy and Frankenstein's monster.

Producer Alissa Phillips spoke to HeyUGuys.com at the UK premiere yesterday and confirmed that the film had been moved into Universal's reboot series.

"I was really excited to be part of that. When we started out we weren't, but then we found out that they were going to do it," she said.

"Working with Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan, who are very much a part of creating The Mummy and the other ones... it's been fun to be a part of that."

Dracula Untold also stars Dominic Cooper, Samantha Barks, Charlie Cox and Sarah Gadon.
