New Music Round-Up: Drake, Charli XCX, Gorillaz, Florence + The Machine
With more fire music coming out from Sean Paul, Stefflon Don, Years & Years and MORE!
This weeks New Music Round-Up has such a fun variety of genre and moods - and there's so much to enjoy! From epic hip hop albums and long awaited Charli XCX to a plethora of dance-y singles, there's something for everyone.
ALBUMS
Drake – Scorpion
He needs absolutely no introduction. A new Drake album is more than a music release it’s an EVENT and fans really have a treat in store for them this time as Drake has dropped a double album – it has both a SIDE A and SIDE B. The first side goes IN and the latter is a return to sad Drake (which of course has spurred a whole lot of memes). We needn’t say much more... except maybe that he discusses his son on it AND that the album features unreleased Michael Jackson. It’s the king of pop and the king of bop coming together. Go check it out NOW!
Charli XCX – Focus / No Angel
Charli XCX has had us on the edge of our seats waiting for this release for SO LONG. Yesterday she dropped her fantastic, sultry ‘5 In The Morning’ music video, and now she’s finally given fans ‘No Angel’ along with a second really really catchy single ‘Focus'. This release is everything we've wanted AND MORE.
Gorillaz - The Now Now
The long awaited latest Gorillaz is FINALLY here. It only has three features, but they’re some very impressive features: Snoop Dogg, Jamie Principle and jazz/soul legend George Benson. Older Gorillaz vibes mixed with the newer styling of recent albums, definitely check it out now.
Sean Paul – Mad Love The Prequel
Sean Paul’s pulls some MASSIVE talent together for his latest album. With Migos, Dua Lipa, Major Lazer, David Guetta, Ellie Goulding and Jhene Aiko – he certainly knows how to put together a lot of bangers.
Protoje – A Matter of Time
Living reggae and dub icon Protoje dropped a brand new full-length project filled with charming instrumentation, lyricism and both upbeat and chill vibes. It features Chronixx who previously partnered with Protoje on the hugely successful “Who Knows”. The whole new project is filled with very seaside sunshine-y bops, have a listen!
SINGLES
Years & Years – ‘All For You’
Olly Alexander & co continue their run-up to next week releasing Palo Santo with a bubbly new single ‘All For You’. This one’s a bouncy, very electronic track that’ll have you grooving along for sure. Each song on the record is supposed to have its own different sound and vibe rather than being too unified – so we’re excited to see where else they’ll go on this project!
The Blaze – ‘She’
The Blaze released the new track from their upcoming debut album Dancehall, and it’s an emotional electronic banger. The Blaze’s fantastic EP Territory was released last year, and so it’ll be interesting how they will conceptually transition to a longer form LP project.
Labrinth & Stefflon Don – ‘Same Team’
Stefflon Don is back in partnership with British multi-talented artist Labrinth with a track that will have you in awe. It’s emotional, heartfelt and powerful – the production is incredibly unique and both artists’ contributions to the track work brilliantly. Definitely listen to this one!
Avelino & Not3s – Boasy
So many shout-outs – this track is all about the come-up. Safe to say, an Avelino and Not3s track was always going to be a bop, and they’ve absolutely delivered. The beat is playful and so very dance-able, and their bars on the track are super charming. Plus, as always, we LOVE beats with flutes. Definitely one to catch!
Bondax – ‘Real Thing’ (Ft. Andreya Triana)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMm886Pr-M0
English Electronic music duo Bondax have returned with this smooth new single and fantastic accompanying music video. The vid sees a man, alone in a house, on an emotional journey to self-acceptance, portraying the highs and lows of someone in constant conflict with their identity. The track is the first official single from their forthcoming debut album Revolve, and honestly after this track we cannot wait. It’s a vibe.
Hardy Caprio, One Acen – ‘Best Life’
BIG SUMMER VIBES. We needn’t say anymore.
King Henry – ‘Bad For Me’ (Ft. Elle Watson)
You may know King Henry for having co-Produced the Major Lazer chart hit ‘Cold Water’ which featured Justin Bieber and MØ, as well as ‘All Night’ for Beyoncé. This, a single of their own, features vocals from upcoming London-based singer Ella Watson. It’s a layered electronic track that we can’t stop listening to.
HONNE & Nana Rogues – ‘I Got You◑’
HONNE bring their unique mix of experimental electronic and more pop-y dance styling to this new track with Nana Rogues. It’s something of a slower jam, it’ll have you swaying along in the early hours of the morning.
OneRepublic – ‘Connection’
Check out this new exceedingly summer smiles vibe of a track from OneRepublic.
Axwell /\ Ingrosso & RØMANS – Dancing Alone
This new party track is going to have you HYPED. This collab is SO club ready, it’s an absolute anthem of a track.
