Drake Admits He Got High Before First Audition
The rapper was a child TV star in Canada before switching to music...
Drake has revealed that he got high before his first ever audition.
The rapper rose to fame in his native Canada playing basketball star Jimmy Brooks on teen drama Degrassi for eight years.
“It was like a real pivotal day in my life because it was the first audition I went on, so that’s already a monumental thing,” Drake recalled on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
That same day, he explained: “I had this really tug of war moment where I actually did something that I probably shouldn’t have done that starts with a ‘W’ and ends with ‘eed’.”
“It was crazy because I started really getting paranoid, I thought I’d just completely ruined my life, I started splashing water on my face constantly, it was like a Clearasil commercial!”
“I showed up to the audition and got just a little less paranoid, went in and did what I could, was just devastated, I couldn’t tell my mum,” said the Hold On singer.
The story ended happily, however as he: “ended up getting a callback and getting the role.”
But, Drake added, he learned a lesson from the experience. “That’s actually the reason I keep all my work very separate from those two words that we spelled,” he explained.
“I don’t understand people that can actually go out on stage under the influence of anything. I have to be straight and clear-minded.”
