Drake Releases New Track "Trophies"
Song was cut from "Nothing Was the Same"...
Drake has given his fans a belated Christmas present by releasing a new track, called Trophies.
The song was released this morning after Drake spent the weekend teasing fans about it. “Trophies up next,” the Canadian rapper tweeted on Saturday, before clarifying: “Trophies later I meant...go to sleep.”
This morning he tweeted a lyric from the track – “And they don’t have no award for that” – while the song was uploaded to SoundCloud.
Trophies was produced by HitBoy – who has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Jay Z, Kanye West and Will.I.Am – together with Hagler & 40.
Although Drake performed the track during his tour and it was teased in a trailer for his album Nothing Was the Same, it was ultimately cut from the record.
However, he hinted about releasing it earlier this year. "I'm not a guy that does 40 songs for a project and picks 13 of them,” Drake told CBC Radio in October. “If I'm gonna go as far as to track over a beat, I usually have the utmost faith in it that it'll end up somewhere.”
