Can You Guess What Record Drake’s Summer Sixteen Tour Has Broken?
Shock! Horror! Drake has broken another record.
Drake and Future’s Summer Sixteen tour has been named the highest grossing tour in hip-hop history.
According to research by Pollstarpro, which has ranked all of the highest grossing tours from 2016, Drake’s Summer Sixteen tour grossed $84.3 million over the course of 56 dates.
Turns out Drake is really popular. Whodathunkit.
The duo dethroned the previous record holders, Jay Z and Kanye West, for their 2012 Watch The Throne tour, which grossed ‘a lot of money’ ($75.6 million to be exact) over the course of 63 dates.
Drake celebrated the announcement in literally the only way a 21st century artist can – by taking to Instagram – where he teased that a European tour, with special guests, is about to be announced.
Despite being the highest grossing hip-hop tour in history, the Summer Sixteen tour was only 11th for the top tours of 2016. Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé, Coldplay, Guns N’ Roses and Adele were in the top five, in that order.
Back in October 2016, Drake announced that he would be releasing a new “playlist project”, called More Life, in December. This project, which Drake said would “provide a soundtrack to your life,” has now been delayed until early 2017. As soon as we hear more, we’ll update you.
Meanwhile, Drake and Jennifer Lopez teased that they might be in a relationship. If you want to read more about that, click here.
