Actress Drew Barrymore has commented on the death of her half-sister Jessica.

The Blended star has released a statement after Jessica was foundunconsciousin her car in San Diego on Tuesday (July 29) - two days before her 48th birthday - with authorities later pronouncing her dead.

[related]It is currently unknown what caused her passing, with Barrymore sending her condolences to Jessica's friends and family.

The 39-year old said: "Although I only met her briefly, I wish her and her loved ones as much peace as possible. I'm so incredibly sorry for their loss."

Jessica was the daughter of Drew's father John Barrymore, who was estranged from the actress for many years before his death from cancer in 2004.
