EastEnders fans were knocked for six last night when young Bobby Beale was revealed as the killer of his half-sister Lucy Beale.

But the bombshell in the special live episode left many fans of The Simpsons rubbing their chins in scepticism because of the similarity to a classic episode of the animated sitcom.

Way back in 1995 a long-running investigation into an attempt on the life of evil tycoon Mr Burns revealed baby Maggie Simpson to be the surprise culprit.

And Twitter users were quick to point out the similarity, many using vintage stills from the cartoon.

One fan, @mollymayneary, wrote: "Bobby killing Lucy is about as ridiculous as when Maggie shot Mr Burns in the Simpsons."
