EastEnders Tops Christmas Day Viewing Figures

Derek Branning's demise secures biggest audience of the day for BBC soap...

EastEnders has topped the Christmas Day viewing figures - beating its long-standing soap rival Coronation Street into second place.
The downfall of villain Derek Branning helped the BBC soap secure the top spot, also beating Call The Midwife, Downton Abbey, Doctor Who and Strictly Come Dancing.
'Enders peaked at 9.8 million viewers, while Corrie secured 8.5 million.
The Queen's Speech had 8.3 million viewers.
BBC One controller Danny Cohen said: "It's been brilliant to see so many viewers watching BBC One on Christmas Day.
"Audiences tuned in for unmissable special episodes of their favourite shows - with EastEnders topping the table as the most popular show of the day."
