There was hardly any doubt that Ed Sheeran is just about the nicest guy in pop, but he's proved it again by making the wish of a very ill fan come true.

The 23-year-old chart topper met 19-year-old brain cancer sufferer Katie Papworth before his gig in Glasgow last Thursday - and accepted her proposal of marriage, along with a ring!

Gallant Ed accepted her proposal and can be seen holding a ring as he poses with Katie, her mum and her carer in a photo proudly posted on Facebook.

Katie has been battling an aggressive form of cancer for eight years and recently lost her sight to the illness.

iHeartRadio reports that Ed also accepted a painting made by his fan before she lost her eyesight - and signed another of her artworks with the message: "Katie, lovely to finally meet my wife."

The meet-up was arranged by the Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation - which posted the snap on its Facebook account and wrote: "Huge Thanks to Ed Sheeran (a real Superstar) and his fantastic team who made Katie's Dream come True Last night and she even proposed and he kept her ring. xx."
