Sky Axes Controversial Michael Jackson Comedy

Sky has axed a controversial episode of their upcoming series 'Urban Myths' after Michael Jackson’s children said that they were sickened by the portrayal of their late father by white actor, Joseph Fiennes.

The casting of a white actor to play Jackson has been controversial. When thetrailer for Urban Myths was released and we all got our first look at Fiennes,Michael Jackson’s children responded with disgust.

@TheMJCast i'm so incredibly offended by it, as i'm sure plenty of people are as well, and it honestly makes me want to vomit.

Paris-Michael Jackson, the singer’s daughter, said: “It angers me to see how obviously intentional it was for them to be this insulting, not just towards my father, but my godmother, Liz, as well.

“Where is the respect? They worked through blood, sweat and tears for ages to create such profound and remarkable legacies. Shameful portrayal.”

Jackson’s nephew, Taj, also responded: “Unfortunately this is what my family has to deal with. No words could express the blatant disrespect.”

Sky released a statement saying: “Sky is not in the habit of pulling programmes but we felt that this was the right decision to take.”

“Sky Arts puts the integrity of the creative vision at the heart of all of its original commissions, and casting decisions are made within the overall diversity framework which we have set.”

Ed Sheeran plays brilliant cover of Fresh Prince theme tune

Is the 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' theme song the best TV theme tune of all time? Possibly. It’s definitely ‘up there’, right?

Say what you want, but considering the sitcom wrapped up over '20' years ago and people are 'still' able to start spitting out those lyrics on cue, its lasting appeal is undeniably impressive.

Anyway, Ed Sheeran, who is bloody everywhere right now as he builds up to the release of new album '÷', is the latest (in a long line of people) to cover the theme tune.

When a caller rang up Capital FM and asked for their two loves in the world – Ed and 'Fresh Prince' – to be combined, Sheeran was more than happy to oblige them. Listen to Ed’s cover below:
