Ellie Goulding Denies Her New Song Is About Ed Sheeran, Despite These Telling Lyrics

Either way, we're can't wait for Delirium.

Ellie Goulding dropped her brand new single, 'On My Mind', today (September 17) and it's already our new obsession. Didn't take long, did it?!

Not only is it insanely catchy with a beat that just won't quit, the lyrics tell a bit of astory too.

Chatting to our pals over in the US at MTV, Ellie revealed that this time she's gone back to being all kinds of honest with her songwriting.

"This song, we had so much fun writing it, it just comes back to that basic thing of having that person just constantly stuck in our heads," she explained.

Remember when Ed Sheeran released 'Don't', the song allegedly about that time Ellie cheated on Ed with One Direction's Niall Horan when they were all staying in the same hotel?

Well these are Ellie's lyrics:

“Next thing that I know, I’m in a hotel with you/ You were talking deep like it was mad love to you/ You wanted my heart, but I just liked your tattoos.”

Despite what it may seem, Ellie explained that it's not a response to Ed's song after all: “I’m sorry to all the people that want it to be about someone — it’s not, it’s like a myth."

Ellie added: “I like guys with tattoos, my boyfriend has tattoos…but I don’t mind. People can read into it however they want. It’s fun to do that, I would do that too.”

Fine, we'll stop digging!
