Ellie Goulding On Lady Gaga Chart Battle: "It's Mad"

Ellie Goulding has expressed her surprise at being ahead of Lady Gaga in the Official Chart Update.

The star said: "It's still something I will never comprehend because I came to America for a couple of years, trying to make it out here.

 

"It was happening slowly and I built up a fanbase doing meet-and-greets after my shows with 300 people every night so I was exhausted but it started to pay off."

 

Ellie added: "During that time Lights started climbing up the charts very slowly. I think it has the record for the slowest climb to No.1. It was bizarre. The VMA thing is just crazy. I am going to be there because it's a really big thing for me."
