Ellie Goulding performed at the royal wedding reception, it has been confirmed.
The lucky singer was photographed leaving Buckingham Palace in the small hours of this morning after performing for 300 guests at the evening festivities.
Not long after Prince Harry’s best man speech, the party kicked off in the palace’s throne room, the highlight of which was a set from Ellie. As well as her hit Starry Eyed, the singer paid tribute to wedding guest Elton John before performing her cover of his seventies classic Your Song.
Afterwards Ellie spoke about the experience to Us Weekly magazine. "It was an amazing honour to be asked by Kate and William to perform at their party," she said. "The atmosphere was incredible and it is a night I'll never forget."
Ahead of the big day, an insider told the Daily Mail: “Ellie was knocked off her feet when she received the invitation to perform for Prince William and Kate – and was so hugely honoured when they said they were both big fans of her music. She still can’t quite believe that she will perform for the royal newlyweds, all the young royal guests and their friends, it hasn’t sunk in yet.”
The wedding reception ended at 3am with a small fireworks display in the grounds of the palace.
