Elton John: "I'm Lucky To Be Alive"

Elton John has revealed he's lucky to be alive after being diagnosed with an appendicitis.

 

Yesterday (July 9), the I'm Still Standing singer announced he's been forced to postpone his European tour - including a headline gig at London's Hyde Park - after being struck with the illness.

 

A spokesperson for Elton stated that he's undergone a series of exploratory scans after feeling unwell and has developed an appendix abscess that will require surgery.

 

 

They added: "Elton is incredibly disappointed to postpone these tour dates. 

 

"To know that he made such super-human efforts and continued to perform to thousands through his illness only confirms his dedication to his European fans. 

 

"He is eager to be back on top form and return to play the remaining shows starting in early September 2013."

 

Elton, who is currently being treated with an intensive course of antibiotics in before his operation, has since told The Sun: "I’m lucky to be alive.

 

“I was a ticking time bomb. I guess I could have died at any time. I feel so lucky and so grateful to be alive. I played nine gigs and the White Tie and Tiara Summer Ball in agony.”

 

The star is hoping to make a full recovery in order to perform at the iTunes Festival and Bestival in September.
