2004 EMAs – The Highlights

The 2004 MTV Europe Music Awards has taken place, and it was full of magic moments.
Kicking off the show with fat beats and a tank, Eminem reminded Rome, and the rest of the planet, why he's the biggest thing since crisps. His medley of 'Toy Soldiers' and 'Just Lose It', backed by a line of drummers and yes " an on-stage tank, would be difficult not to get excited about.
Other performance highlights included Gwen Stefani's rendition of her solo debut 'What You Waiting For', which opened with her being lowered from the ceiling in a swing attached to a giant clock. Gwen, her white shoes, and her harem of hot Japanese mentalist mates raised the roof and the temperature in the Tor Di Valle.
Anyone in doubt that the Beastie Boys have still got it, were officially pronounced stupid at the 2004 EMAs, as the Bronx trio let-rip big fat raw hip-hop style with 'Open Letter To NYC', complete with an exhibition of skating and bike riding.
Meanwhile at The Coliseum - for the outdoor section of the 2004 EMAs - Anastacia treated the 55,000 Italian revellers to a ballsy version of 'Left Outside Alone' before having a big hug with Coliseum host Sarah Michelle Gellar (there's one for the night-time memory banks, boys!).
Italian vocalist Tiziano Ferro may not mean much to you if you're not Italian, or related to him, but he meant a lot to the 2004 EMAs audience who went bonkers for his show-closing performance.
And no round-up of the 2004 MTV Europe Music Awards would be complete without mention of the ceremony's host X-to-the-Z... Xzibit. The rapper-come-serial ride-pimper did himself, and Rome, proud as this year's master of ceremonies. Among X's crowning moments was his response to a satellite message from Destiny's Child in which they got him mixed up with Will Smith. "O.K, thanks" he replied, "let's hear it for Boyz 2 Men!".
And so, another MTV Europe Music Awards bites the dust. It was stylish and smooth, like an Italian model's legs, and heavy like a giant Italian pizza.
Until next year...
