Berlin will host the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2009- twenty years after the Berlin wall fell.

The first ever EMAs took place in the city back in 1994 and to celebrate the historic anniversary were heading back.

This years spectacular ceremony took place in Liverpool and saw Pink, Beyonce and Kanye West take to the stage. It was hosted by Katy Perry (pictured above).

The MTV EMAs 2009 will take place on Thursday November 5 at the O2 World Arena in the city and in front of the Brandenburg Gate.

In 2007 the awards were also in Germany in Munich and were hosted by Snoop Dogg with performances by Foo Fighters and Amy Winehouse.
