Copenhagen Freezes As EMAs Heat Up

Watch all the action from 8pm Thursday on MTV and Overdrive

Things are heating up backstage at the 13th annual MTV Europe Music Awards in Copenhagen.

Despite outside temperatures just above freezing and raging snow storms, rehearsals for Nelly Furtado, P Diddy and Rihanna have already taken place at the Bella Centre. Meanwhile at the City Hall (Radhuspladsen) where the outdoor show takes place, crew and artists are braving the weather to rehearse performances with The Killers, Muse and Keane.

More than 500 crew are working around the clock to make sure the two main shows at the Bella Center and Radhuspladsen go as well as possible. It has taken 10 days to prepare the site for the awards but the de-rigg group have only 18 hours to clear the site once the show finishes on Thursday night.

The stage is set for host Justin Timberlake who gave the first press conference of the show at the venue this morning. Justin's big opening set features 16 mirror balls hoisted on one-ton hoists. Justin and the other acts will be able to relax backstage in sumptuous surroundings. More than 550 people will go through the dressing rooms on show night including artists and entourage/management, press escorts, talent escorts, catering staff, hair and make-up people.

Artists will also walk away with goodie bags including free mobile phones, shopping at the Replay backstage shop and one lucky artist will drive away in a brand new Corsa.

You can catch the whole show on MTV from 8pm today and live on Overdrive with exclusive backstage extras.
