EMAs 2005: The Show Highlights Part 1

The MTV Europe Music Awards 2005 have taken place, and unsurprisingly they rocked like a bastard.
Opening the 12th annual MTV Europe Music Awards in Lisbon was her royal highness Madonna with a banging rendition of her new single 'Hung Up', for which she wore a hot purple leather jacket and tiny shorts that showed off her fantastic 47-year-old ass. It was a racy performance with Madonna feeling up, and being felt up by, her buff breakdancers, one of which had the pleasure of her leg over his shoulder.
This year's host, the one and only Borat, was quick to make his mark, stating that "it was very brave to open the show with a transvestite!" He then launched into his introduction which featured a dozen very young looking girls in nightgowns who he led into a steamy version of 'I Wanna Sex You Up', ripping off their night clothes to reveal sexy, and tiny, underwear. "Hello Lisbon," screamed the Kazakhstan superstar, "and welcome to the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest!"
Fast-forward past award victories for Green Day (Best Album), Black Eyed Peas (Best Pop) - presented to them by The Sugababes in bright, sexy dresses that showed off their boobs - and Snoop Dogg (Best Hip-Hop), and we're onto a classic spinning-Chris Martin performance of 'Talk' by Coldplay.
Then we're back with Borat who welcomes a Kazakhstan dance group in full Arabian get-up and wellies. He then introduced the Pussycat Dolls as "international prostitutes", who performed their smash 'Don't Cha' complete with a house remix at the end.
The next performance came courtesy of The Gorillaz and it was astounding. Thanks to groundbreaking 3D holographic technology, the mighty apes appeared on stage as life size creatures, rocking on their instruments, danced with De La Soul, who joined them on stage for their joint hit 'Feel Good Inc', and scratched their balls.
Skate past more 'traditional' Kazakhstan entertainment from Borat, and a very smooth performance from Akon, and we're onto Lord Of War star Jared Leto presenting Best Alternative, which he introduced with the night's first political message. "Repeat after me," he said to the excited audience, "War. Peace. Poverty... George Bush!" At which point everybody booed very loudly. "Luckily," added Jared, "tonight there is an alternative" (see what he did there?) The award went to System Of A Down, whose frontman went into a rant about the failure of humanity.
Green Day were next to perform, quite literally setting the arena alight with an explosion-tastic rendition of 'Holiday' which rocked everybodys socks off.
But what next?! Check out The Show Highlights Part 2...
