Rome Plays Host To 2004 MTV Europe Music Awards

The 11th MTV Europe Music Awards will be held on November 18 in a purpose-built tented structure at Romes famous Tor Di Valle, Rome.
The news was announced today by at a press conference in Rome by Brent Hansen, President & Chief Executive, MTV Networks Europe. "To me, Rome offers the perfect location for the MTV Europe Music Awards, combining the beauty and awe-inspiring history of an ancient European past with a modern vitality and a vibrant music scene," Hansen said. "Rome may have an awesome history of staging spectacular events that goes back to ancient times, but we can confidently promise the people of Rome a show like theyve never seen before!"
The 2003 Awards in Edinburgh electrified the whole city with a series of music events in the run-up to the show and an outdoor live music event simultaneous to the Awards. Credited by Scotlands Tourism Minister, Frank McAveety, for bringing 8.8 million into the Edinburgh economy, the 2003 Awards were dominated by sensational hostess Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake who won three awards: Best Male, Best Album and Best Pop.
As host city, Rome joins the ranks of Edinburgh (2003), Barcelona (2002), Frankfurt (2001), Stockholm (2000), Dublin (1999), Milan (1998), Rotterdam (1997), London (1996) Paris (1995) and Berlin (1994), which have all provided inspirational backdrops for past MTV Europe Music Awards ceremonies.
The MTV Europe Music Awards will broadcast live to MTV Europes 119 million homes, and then to a potential worldwide audience of 1 billion people via MTVs global network of music channels and syndication partnerships.
Replay Blue Jeans will be again be sponsoring the MTV Europe Music Awards 2004 as part of a two-year partnership and LOreal Paris Studio Line will sponsor the Awards for the first time this year, also as part of a two-year agreement. The remaining MTV Europe Music Awards 2004 sponsors will be announced soon.
