Whitney Houston Named Global Icon At 2012 MTV EMA
The late great Whitney Houston will be honoured at the 2012 MTV EMA tonight (11th November) with the Global Icon accolade.
Houston, who sadly passed away before the Grammy Awards in February this year, will become the third artist ever to receive the honour - with only Bon Jovi and Queen previously taking home the title.
Show producer Bruce Gilmer paid tribute to the I Will Always Love You hitmaker, stating that the gong is reserved for those who have "made a tremendous impact on the world".
He added to The Hollywood Reporter that Houston had "one of the world's greatest voices", claiming: "[She was] a huge influence on music and other artists. We all know her music lives on."
