Eminem To Become First Rapper To Headline Wembley Stadium

Forget Hyde Park! Slim Shady is set to take over the 90,000 capacity venue in July...

Eminem is to become the first rapper to headline Wembley Stadium after confirming his first show in London since 2001.

Following speculation that The Monster hitmaker would be playing a show in the capital this summer, Em has now announced that he will be performing at the 90,000 capacity 'Venue of Legends' on July 11.

Speaking on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show, the 40-year old confirmed reports that there was some trouble when it came to approval for him to take to the stage in Hyde Park - meaning Wembley became an option.

He explained: "I heard that I wasn't going to be approved to play in Hyde Park and it made me even more excited to play in London this summer.

"The easiest way to get me to do something is to tell me I can’t do it. Thanks to the Royal Parks for making it all possible….for Wembley."

When asked about the rumours that the Royal Parks felt he was 'too controversial' to perform at the venue, Em replied: "That’s mean, man. It kinda hurts my feelings.”

After the announcement, Slim Shady then took to Instagram to add to the same 'Never Mind Hyde Park' pic he had posted earlier in the day, revealing his Wembley stint.

He accompanied the image with the caption: "Never mind the b*****ks...see you soon London."

Tickets for Em's epic Wembley show will go on sale at 9am on Friday, May 9.
