Emma Watson might have been taking on more adult roles since leaving the Harry Potter franchise behind her, but her next high-profile job could be as an iconic character from a children's story.
The 23-year-old star has been linked to the lead role in a new big-screen, live-action version of Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid.
Her pal Sofia Coppola - who directed her in The Bling Ring - has been attached to the project as director and is reported to want Em-Wat to play the lead.
A source told The Sun: "Sofia wants Emma and the pair have such a respect for each other, it would be very surprising if they carry on without each other.
"Movie companies Universal and Working Title want to move quickly on this so expect an announcement soon."
Tim Burton is apparently working on the script for the film, which is likely to be a dark, adult take on the classic fairytale.
Emma cut quite a dash at a movie premiere earlier this week.
