Emotional Tribute To Robin Williams At Emmys
Billy Crystal led the tribute to his good friend Robin Williams at the Emmy Awards in the US last night.
The veteran entertainer was clearly emotional as he shared personal stories about the recently departed 63-year-old star's humour and warmth.
"He made us laugh... hard," he began. "Every time you saw him on television, arenas, hospitals, homeless shelters, and even in a dying girl's living room.
"The relentless energy was kind of thrilling. I used to think, 'if I could just put a saddle on him and stay on for eight seconds I'd be all right'.
"It's very hard to talk about him in the past because he was in our present for almost 40 years."
The segment closed with a series of clips of Williams' best-known performances on chat shows at live gigs.
The In Memoriam section of the show also featured tributes to James Garner, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Shirley Temple.
