Erykah Badu Shows Respect To Biggie Smalls

She wishes that she wrote the hip-hop star's track, 'Warning'...

Controversial soul singer Erykah Badurecently revealed that she wishes she had written the Biggie Smalls track Warning. Badu borrowed one of Biggie Smalls' hardest lines and made it fit in a love song for her new song Fall In Love.

Erykah Badu told BET.com: "Before I was a vocalist, I was an MC. When I'm writing, I write with rhythm, kinda like an MC would write. In the song ‘Fall In Love’ on the new album, 'New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh),' I say a line from ‘Warning’. 'There's gonna be a lot of slow singin' and flower bringin' if my burglar alarm start ringin',' something I wish I had written."

She added: "It goes very well with the song, but I interpreted it different. I flipped it a little bit. It's called you don't wanna fall in love with me, 'cause if you do, there's gonna be some slow singin' and flower bringin' if my burglar alarm start ringin', meaning, if you come through this door, it's gon be your funeral. It's kinda like an expression of hip-hop; you know bragadocious tongue in cheek satire."
