Escape To Victory 'Set For Movie Reboot'
Cheesy film favourite reportedly set to be remade with modern actors and soccer stars...
With England out of the World Cup already, the country's footy fans could do with a bit of good news.
So hopefully the news that the gloriously cheesy 1981 movie Escape To Victory is set to be "rebooted" will put a smile back on some of their faces.
Starring Michael Caine and Sylvester Stallone - along with Pele, Bobby Moore and Ossie Ardiles - the original movie was directed by John Huston and told the story of an exhibition match between an Allied team and a German side during World War Two.
Warner Brothers has apparently engaged big-name director Doug Liman to develop the project, with the title "Victory" in mind - as the original film was known in the US.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the story, writing: "American studios have traditionally embraced sports movies about American sports like baseball and football, yet shied away from soccer films, despite the sport's global appeal.
"But as international box office has become increasingly important, soccer is becoming more palatable to studio executives."
No news on the cast yet, but we'd bet our house on a certain Mr Beckham being involved.
