R&B star Estelle has topped the UK singles charts this week with her track American Boy and has followed up the good news with an announcement that she will play this years Glastonbury Festival.

Estelle also took the opportunity to speak out in support of Jay-Z, whose appointment as headliner of this years event has been subject to some controversy.

She stated that the rapper is a worldwide global superstar, not just an urban artist.

And that as a producer of credible music there is no reason why he should not be headlining the festival.

Other headliners at this years Glastonbury are Kings of Leon and recently reformed band, The Verve. The festival takes place in Pilton, Somerset on June 27-29.
