Ibiza Rocks DJ Yasmin Interview

We talk Dizzee, Devlin and Example with the Ibiza Rocks act...

DJ Yasmin may have already played Glastonbury Festival this summer, but we caught up with her at Ibiza Rocks to find out about supporting Dizzee Rascal, how her duet with Devlin happened and how she landed a spot on Example's forthcoming tour.

Q: You are supporting Dizzee Rascal at Ibiza Rocks, how did that come about?

A: Yes, so I am supporting Dizzee Rascal here at Ibiza Rocks and it was really just a case of my agents are really good and I made it aware to them that I really wanted to do a lot of festivals  this summer and more fun big parties instead of little night clubs and they went ahead and did that and here I am.

Q: Are you a big fan of Dizzee Rascal?

A:  I’m a massive fan. His first album Boy In The Corner is one of my favourite British albums of all time so yeah, I'm definitely a big fan.

Q: Have you been to Ibiza Rocks before?

A: I haven’t but I have been to Ibiza in 2008 for some of the closing parties on holiday so I am really looking forward to djing and being in Ibiza Rocks as well.

Q: You feature on Devlin’s track, Runaway – how did that all come about?

A: I have worked quite a lot with some producers Future Cut and the day after I signed my record deal,  I wanted to celebrate with those guys and they were like “we are in the studio with Devlin but it’s fine come on up." When I went there, Devlin had put three verses down on this song and there was no chorus but I thought it was amazing and got an idea there and then. I sang it to them and they loved it and that’s how it happened. Devlin is an incredible talent , he’s raw and what you see is what you get and for me, it’s always a pleasure to work with someone like that, I’m looking forward to that single coming out.

Q: You are supporting Example on his tour what can you tell us about that?

A: The Example tour is kicking off at the end of September and then two weeks into October so it’s going to be an experience. I have done a few little bits of touring but this is going to be the full shabang, we are all getting on the tour bus together and will be going up and down the country. It’ll be wicked.

Q: Once you have done the Example tour, what are your plans for the future?

A: I am always going to be djing especially now I have had a taste of festival life and I definitely want to be djing at more festivals. I am also releasing my own music and I am featuring on the song with Devlin and my first single is going to be coming out in January next year so I am just going to be releasing music to the world on hopefully a bigger scale.
