Stereophonics front man Kelly Jones exclusively told MTV News that fellow performers Razorlight need to step up their game before they perform on the same bill as them at this years’ Isle of Wight Festival.
Speaking to Kelly before the ‘Phonics performance last night at the Royal Albert Hall ‘Teenage Cancer Trust’ gig, he was more than happy to give some advice to Johnny Borrell.
When we asked the singer about performing on the same date with Borrell’s band he explained “if there’s any band members left by that point they’ll be on…He reminds me of where we were with our third album… in fucking trouble!”
Well, perhaps Kelly had some advice for Razorlight ahead of the festival “Just change your haircut, they all forget about you then. It’s a new you – Madonna’s done it all her life”.
However, the Stereophonics were in town for much more important business, to perform for the Teenage Cancer Trust at London’s Royal Albert Hall, an event heavily supported by The Who’s Roger Daltry.
Kelly told us why it’s so important for them to be involved “Cancer affects everybody’s families but when it affects young people it seems a lot worse and Daltry’s been a brilliant ambassador, he’s always organised great shows with great artists.”
He continued “he (Roger) goes to these places and realises what kids need and I think as a band all you have to do is turn up and play… and the attention it brings then goes towards much bigger things.”
Lastly, the boys told us that they’re hoping to get their new album finished by the end of summer and revealed that they have booked some time with producer Jim Abbiss.
