Faithless Live Review
iTunes Festival - London Roundhouse 14/07/10
On Wednesday night (July 14) at Camden’s Roundhouse, Faithless rolled in - bringing with them a legacy of classic tunes aimed at causing waves of euphoria amongst the expectant iTunes Festival audience.
In the absence of those pesky cool kids, the audience (who, it must be said, were probably old enough to remember first dancing to Insomnia at their school prom) negated all inhibitions and had it like it was 1997. Large!
Maxi Jazz’s hushed musings atop the crest of Sister Bliss’ grandiose house-chords and some feverish percussion brought the much-loved Faithless sound to a baying NW1 audience who were throwing their hands in the air - with little care that it was only a Wednesday night.
The venerated venue’s exposed rafters shook and throbbed as Faithless unashamedly dropped classics such as God Is A DJ and We Come 1. Such revered dance-floor stalwarts were joined with frenetic airings of new cuts Not Going Home and Feel Me from this year’s LP The Dance.
At the end of the night, sweat-soaked audience travelled homewards to relieve babysitters with their faith restored that if God were a DJ, he would certainly drop a couple of Faithless tunes!
