This week’s featured fan account is entirely dedicated to the one and only Cara Delevingne.
@carasuperhero LOVE Cara so much so that they spend a lot of time giving their followers updates on her every move.
Check out our interview with the people that run the account...
Who runs the account?
HEY! My name is Marc, I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina and I am 17 years old. I'm currently studying in high school, dreaming about studying abroad.
How long have you been a fan of Cara Delevingne?
Since 2012. I remember watching Cara on a Burberry show and thinking "hey I know this girl from somewhere..." so I searched for her and I was already following her on Instagram, haha. I started watching funny videos that she posted on her feed and after that it was instant; I had become a fan.
Why are you a fan of Cara Delevingne?
The real question here is, why isn’t everybody a fan of Cara? People may think that I admire her beauty or her weird self. However, it is SO much more than that. She has helped me and countless other teens to feel confident about themselves. I remember feeling worthless, repeating to myself different quotes that she has said, such as "embrace your weirdness", "stop labelling, start living" and "be brave. Believe in yourself. Make yourself proud." These all helped me to be happier with myself, to accept myself and others. She has helped me through my entire teenhood.
Apart from being such an inspiring role-model, Cara has made me even prouder this last year with her humanitarian work in Uganda and her campaign against trophy hunting. I mean, she is just 24 and at such a young age she has learned so much, she has done so much for our world. She lives life and while doing it, she changes the planet. Cara is what I call a real activist. My username explains it all perfectly: she's a superhero; she is so different from everybody else, she is unapologetic, true to herself, true to everybody that has rooted for her since day 1, grateful to her fans and her family and friends.
How much time do you devote to running the account?
It depends a lot on every week. Those weeks in which I'm saturated with exams or homework I decide to detach from the account a little bit, and post less, but I sometimes post A LOT per day! I basically check the account at least once or twice a day, and I try to be in it and post as much as I can! I really do enjoy doing it so I cannot stay away from it not even for a day haha.
Has Cara Delevingne ever noticed the account? Liked a pic? If so, when?
YES!!! Actually, she follows me on Instagram since about a year ago. She has liked plenty of times, reposted once and has talked to me through DMs a couple of times. I still can't believe that out of all the fans that she has, she still manages to show ME so much love and appreciation!
How did that make you feel?
It makes me feel so freaking happy, you have no idea! Every time I see her username in my notifications I get a mini heart-attack… it just makes me feel so special and honestly, it's something that keeps me going. There are those days in which I feel down and suddenly "@caradelevingne liked your post" pops up and I swear it causes me to unknowingly smile!
Have you ever met Cara Delevingne?
Yes, I've met her, and hugged her, and talked to her on 1st August 2016 at the New York World Premiere of Suicide Squad! It was such a special moment because I met most of the cast: Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jared Leto, etc. But I remember that the best part was when the movie was over, I stood up turned around and saw Cara, at the end of the hall. I ran all the way towards her, and directly shouted "CARA IT’S ME CARASUPERHERO OMG THE MOVIE WAS AMAZING WANNA HANG OUT?" lol. She probably thought I was some crazy weirdo but at the end of the night, I left the theatre happier than ever, having hugged my idol and being one of the first people to watch the movie. And it was all thanks to CARA!
What makes Cara different to other celebrities?
I think that the most admirable aspect about Cara that is different in most celebrities currently is that she stays genuine to herself even if you consider how famous she is. She seems to be the same Cara that I remember from 2012. She still has the same friends as before, she still interacts with us – her fans – a lot, she still has time for her family. As I said before, she is clearly such an un-regretful, inspiring woman: if you check out the interviews that she has done for magazines such as Vogue or ELLE or Love, you'll see how unique she is.
She talks about the importance of equality, her battle with depression, the need of LGBT rights in the globe (amongst others) and you just can't believe that a 24-year-old girl has gone through so much and still manages to act as a testimony to us teens that it gets better, she encourages to persist, to keep trying; if you go to her Instagram profile, she is not like other celebrities posting millions of selfies or body artsy pictures. I'm not saying it is wrong to do so, but I really admire that Cara's feed is filled with empowering quotes, important campaigns and funny random stuff. She manages to have the best of both worlds: she can be a regular and cool girl and a supermodel-actress-activist-QUEEN, all at the same time!
How exciting are you for Cara’s debut novel ‘Mirror Mirror’?
I love the fact that Cara constantly branches her career more and more: from first being a model, to an actress, to a philanthropist, to a writer! I love that she tries new things and explores her different talents. I'm VERY EXCITED (!!!) to read her novel in October, and I hope you guys are too. I know that it is going to be really really good! :)
What do you think of Cara branching off into acting?
I support her in ANYTHING if that makes her happy. As she has always supported us, we are here to always show our support to her! She still has a lot to learn but so did Angelina Jolie when she started, and I know Cara is a very committed and dedicated person therefore I am sure that she will succeed. I am happy that she is happy!
What’s your favourite film she has starred in?
I really liked EVERY ONE in which she has starred in yet – considering my experience with Suicide Squad – I'd have to choose this one! I am also very very excited for Valerian, which is coming out this year in July and it's gonna be so LIT! I love watching her fulfilling her dreams in life thus I love all of the movies she has starred in.
Are there other Cara Delevingne fan accounts you follow and recommend?
