Harry Potter News Klaxon: There's A 'Fantastic Beasts' Sequel In The Works And Here Are The Details
J.K. Rowling and more are set to work on the upcoming sequel...
We’ve not even seen the first instalment yet, but Warner Bros. is already surging forward upon their nimbu$$$ 3000 with J.K. Rowling’s rapidly expanding Harry Potter universe. Today, the major film studio announced that a second movie in the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ series is now in the works. You can *almost* hear the cash registers ringing already.
Variety writes that J.K. Rowling herself will be penning the script, whist Harry Potter veteran David Yates (he directed the final four Harry Potter films, as well as the first Fantastic Beasts movie) will be at the helm of the project as director. So, essentially, every Harry Potter big hitter (including producers David Heyman, Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram) is on board the H̶o̶g̶w̶a̶r̶t̶s̶E̶x̶p̶r̶e̶s̶s̶ new film.
According to Warner Bros. the second film in the Fantastic Beasts series “moves deeper into an increasingly dark time for the wizarding world, where Newt and our other heroes have to decide on their allegiances.” Sounds kinda spooky. Sounds kinda dangerous. WE WANT IN. If Warner Bros. want to send all early tapes (people don’t use tapes anymore, do they?) over to us – to check over and other professional stuff like that – we’d be happy to give them a look. We definitely wouldn’t have a viewing party in the office. No. No. We wouldn’t do that.
Anyway, the first ‘Fantastic Beasts’ film, starring the rather lovely, awards obsessed Eddie Redmayne, will be hitting big screens near you on November 18.
As soon as more Harry Potter news hits, we’ll be the first to let you know, so stay tuned to MTV.
