Jude Law Will Play Young Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts 2
We can't wait to see him opposite Johnny Depp's Grindlewald.
We have huge news from the Potterverse! It's been announced that Jude Law will play the young Albus Dumbledore in upcoming sequel, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them 2.
He becomes the third star to play everyone’s favourite headmaster on screen, filling the sizeable shoes of Richard Harris and Michael Gambon.
Having teasingly revealed Johnny Depp’s Grindlewald at the end of the first film, the sequel is set to explore the relationship between the dark wizard and his friend-turned-nemesis, Dumbledore. Hopefully this also means we’ll get another look at dear old Hogwarts…
“Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I've long admired and I'm looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him,” said director David Yates, “I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as JK Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.”
It sounds like bang-on casting to us, with Law likely to have some serious drama to get his teeth into, particularly if the film tackles the simmering love affair between Dumbledore and Grindlewald hinted at in the books. We’ll find out how it all pans out when the film opens on 16 November 2018.
