Balenciaga’s £600 Platform Crocs Sold Out Before They Were Even Released
Proof that we don't know what's cool anymore.
Waking up on Christmas morning to a pair of crocs might’ve been something that you had literal nightmares about as a child but it turns out the fashion world is doing its very best to make the rubber-soled creations cool again.
Anyone who keeps their finger on the pulse knows that powerhouse Balenciaga sent its models down the Paris Fashion Week runway wearing the yellow and pink designs back in Autumn.
Let's get checking out an update from MTV News...
And while most of us figured they were just using shock tactics to get people talking about the show, the brand have proved that they actually *do* know more than the rest of us when it comes to being cutting edge.
Well. Sort of.
Capitalising on the fact that crocs get underneath people’s skin like nothing else, the company decided to put their item on pre-sale on February 1st to get some kind of indication as to how it might sell.
Lo and behold, Barney’s sold out every single pair of the crocs within a few short hours. Seriously.
Considering the only major change between the Balenciaga croc and a regular old grandpa croc is the fact it has a 10cm platform addition and few badge features, it’s pretty wild that people are willing to fork out £600 for the updated design.
Each to their own.
